Sunday night, R&B star Chris Brown, who has been keeping a low profile since last year, broke down while performing a surprise tribute to Michael Jackson at the BET Awards. The audience was very much on Brown’s side, helping him sing the lyrics to “Man in the Mirror” when he was overcome with emotion.
“I think people felt, in terms of the dance tribute he did, I think people enjoyed that and were reminded that in spite of his past behavior and actions that he’s a talented person,” a reporter says.
“It was one of the best performances of the night,” she says. “Everybody stopped what they were doing and watched, and you kept hearing over and over again [from his fellow performers] ‘Chris Brown is back’ and ‘Let’s give him a chance.’ “
His career has yet to reach its former heights. In December, he released his latest album, “Graffiti” and to date, it has sold fewer than 500,000 copies, poor even in a time of diminished album sales. None of its singles have hit the Billboard Top 10.
Brown, who turned 21 at the beginning of May, often hasn’t helped his case. He’s been a frequent social network user, often using services to either apologize or vent — that is, when he wasn’t leaving them entirely.
He apologized again at the BET Awards, telling the crowd, “I let you down before but I won’t do it again, I promise.”
“He’s just a kid, and that’s what people have to remember,” she says. “You really don’t want to do anything, if you’re in his position, that reminds people of what happened. … Only time will tell. Hopefully he can mature a little bit. There needs to be somebody in his camp guiding him to be a little more careful.”
Perhaps Gucci, a commenter put it best. “I think he’s been forgiven a while ago. He just hasn’t forgiven himself,” and “that’s why he won’t act like he has damn sense,” the commenter wrote. “Stop with the [Twitter] rants, the pointless interviews, and the [whining] and just dance!”

Britney Spears has been confirmed to performing at this year’s 2010 Teen Choice Awards. Hosted by Katy Perry, this will be Britney’s first award show performance in America since her “Gimme More” performance back at the MTV Video Awards.
Other acts scheduled to perform include Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Miranda Cosgrove.

Katy Perry plans to perform her new single naked at the MTV Movie Awards.
During an interview with MTV News, the 25-year-old spoke about her debut performance of ‘California Gurls’ with Snoop Dogg.
“I think that this performance will be really Californian. There will be tons of naked girls.” she said.
“Listen: You gotta tune in, because yours truly, Katy Perry, will be naked. That’s the only reason to watch.”
Perry also said of the song’s video, which will be given a preview during the awards: “It’s definitely something to watch when you have the munchies, cause it’s all edible.”

Katy Perry will perform at the annual MTV Movie Awards next month.
The quirky brunette is set to perform her summer anthem “California Gurls” live for the first time during the ceremony on June 6, the network announced Monday. The track is the first single from Katy’s forthcoming album Teenage Dream — the follow-up to her 2007 smashOne of the Boys, which is set for release on August 24.
“I’m proud to represent the West Coast at the MTV Movie Awards in the magical glow of the Hollywood sign with my new single ‘California Gurls.’ I hope it will be the theme song to a lot of summer loving, I know it will in my house!” Katy says.
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards — hosted by Parks & Recreation star Aziz Ansari — will broadcast LIVE from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California on Sunday, June 6 @ 9 PM/ET, 8PM/Central.

Even though the mega pop star has appeared on American Idol two years ago with a live performance of “Just Dance” “Poker Face”, Lady Gaga began to make her own demands for her second time around.
When American Idol approached the outrageous singer, she demanded a paycheck of $250,000 to appear on the hit Fox show.Producers of the show hesitated to pay her that amount of money.
“They thought it was just crazy she was asking for so much money,” a source tells OK! “It was just too much money to pay talent for a performance.”
But American Idol producers have patched up things with Lady Gaga, because the attention-getting singer taped her performance for next week’s American Idol Top 5 Results Show.
The singer performed a dash of “Bad Romance” on the piano, and will then break into her current hit “Alejandro.”
“Lady Gaga will make some jaws hit the ground as she wears a black thong with a revealing black fishnet bodysuit,” an eyewitness tells OK! “It’s a typical provocative costume, but it’s a little shocking.”
Her costume is a black fishnet bodysuit with black sequined accents, which is rather jaw-dropping. It looks to have been handmade. But typical sky-high footgear were a bit much as she almost took a hard tumble during the taping. But she barely missed the fall, and the show went on.
Lady Gaga even uses blood in this performance, which was very reminiscent of her performance of “Paparazzi” on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
Unlike other past performers on AI, Lady Gaga’s stage is rather elaborate, which is pretty dark, full of smoke to create mystery, and danger. The singer — who never manages to not shock audiences — has near-naked homoerotic male dancers supporting her throughout the number. An angel that expels fire on a mirrored platform will hold court on stage, as well as black thorn-like trees with black poison ivy, and razor blade benches dripping in blood along the stage.
It’s a bit surprising to see such a provocative costume and performance on a “family show,” so perhaps parents might want to put their children to bed for this number.
“After looking at her costume, stage and production, it is easy to conclude a good chunk of change was spent on her performance,” the eyewitness continues.
This past Tuesday, Lady Gaga and her dancers rehearsed for three and a half hours for the taping on Wednesday. The performance will air on Wednesday, May 5 along with Harry Connick Jr. who is the Idols’ mentor of the week.

Taylor Swift has invited a few special guests to perform with her at the Academy of Country Music awards in Las Vegas on Sunday — 16 of them, to be exact.
According to The Boot, the 20-year-old country star found University of California San Diego’s a cappella group the Tritones on YouTube. She reportedly found a video of the 16-person group singing her hit single, ‘You Belong With Me,’ and was so impressed that she contacted the group’s student manager to see if the Tritones would be willing to perform with her at the ACMs. They obviously agreed.
Originally formed in 1996, the Tritones are UC San Diego’s first co-ed a cappella group, consisting of eight male students and eight female students. Taylor is nominated for five ACMs this year, including Song of the Year and Video of the Year for ‘You Belong With Me,’ so we expect the Tritones to sing this song with Taylor on Sunday.

Tonight at 8:30pm EST you can watch Nick Jonas perform at the 25th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The performance, along with the rest of the ceremony, will be broadcast on the Fuse television channel.
Nick will be singing the song “A Teenager In Love,” written by Mort Shuman who is this year’s inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Doc Pomus. The song was originally performed by Dion and the Belmonts in 1959.
