Kylie couldn’t crack it, but nailing the US market seems to be well on track for Aussie pop duo The Veronicas.
The turbo twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso have hit number 17 on the billboard 100 with this track Untouched, running off the back of their US tour with Natasha Bedingfield, Hanson and The Jonas Brothers.
The 23-year-olds say they are seen as more of an edgy pop act in America than Australia, while sounding more eclectic and original is all part of their musical plan.
The Veronicas are now headed back to Australia to kick off their ‘Revenge is Sweeter’ tour that will also take them to Europe, Asia and back to the United States.
We’re ready for new music!
Last year both Ke$ha and The Veronicas recorded the song, “This Love.”
Written by Ke$ha, she went to promote the song on her Myspace before selling it to the twins who made the song their third single from their sophomore album. With Ke$ha and Veronicas currently both performing the song during concerts, who do you think sings it better?
MTV released their top 10 Rising Stars for 2010 and The Veronicas have come in at #7!
“When The Veronicas first hit the scene in 2005, you could be forgiven for thinking they were two innocent holier-than-thou brunette twins, especially as matching red lipstick was about as risqué as it got for the duo. But a couple of years, some chart success, and a US tour with the intensely popular Jonas Brothers have seen the twins find new fame, with ‘Untouched’ flying into the U.S charts. Yep, the Brissy twins have morphed into full scaled sex kittens and we’re loving every minute. Hook yourself up with the V-rons now…”
Congrats ladies! The sisters who are currently in the studio working on new music, are aiming for their third album to be released this fall.

The Veronicas updated their official site with a post on what they’ve been up to lately.
Lis and I thought we would send a little update with what we’ve been up to the past couple of weeks. Things might seem quiet, but the past few weeks we’ve been shacked up making a lot of noise in Brisbane with Jungle George, writing and recording for our third record. We’ve been experimenting with a lot of different sounds for this next record – citing influences from The Subways, The Dead Weather, Mazzy Star, Ladytron and Peaches. We’ve also been doing some writing collaborations as well with Erinn and Matt from Streamer Bendy, and also the amazinng Suzi Quatro (yes that’s right). Also, we’ve been relaxing a fair bit, before we head back to the UK next week for the big Xmas show in London. We’re going to do a video blog while we are in London to say hiii to you cute kids out in Youtube world! (when I say kids.. I don’t actually mean kids.. I even call my older friends kids..ha.) Welllll I’m off to meet up with Jungle and some mates to see a gig! So I’ll speak soon ❤ Keep on loving
❤ Jessssica and Lis
