He may be just 22, but age hasn’t prevented heartthrob Zac Efron from making a major impact in the world of films.
The star — who rose to fame playing hoops star Troy Bolton in Disney’s hugely-successful High School Musical franchise — will receive the Shining Star Award at the Maui Film Festival in Hawaii later this month.
The star of High School Musical 3: Senior Year and 17 Again will be on-hand to accept the award on June 16, the festival’s opening night. Efron has also appeared in a film version of the musical Hairspray and recently, Me & Orson Welles, which focuses on the making of the Mercury Theater production of Julius Caesar.
