Lady Gaga had to be dragged out of her dressing room by Oprah Winfrey after suffering from stage fright at the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night.

The “Poker Face” star was handpicked by Vogue editor Anna Wintour – who throws the “Oscars of the Fashion World” at The Met every year – to perform for the star-studded crowd of 700 as the night’s featured entertainer. But for some reason, Gaga — who has performed by President Barack Obama and even Queen Elizabeth — wasn’t prepared to take the stage and reportedly locked herself in the changing area.

Luckily, The Queen of Talk managed to help Gaga overcome her nerves.

According to The New York Post“She literally wouldn’t come out. Friends tried, Warner Music executive Lyor Cohen tried, no dice. Eventually, Vito Schnabel came over and got artist Terence Koh on the phone to talk to her, which helped. Koh and Oprah were the ones who finally coaxed her out.”

The theme of this year’s Costume Institute exhibition was “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity.”
