Daniel Radcliffe to Star in ‘How to Succeed’ Revival on Broadway

How do you succeed on Broadway without really trying? It doesn’t hurt when you have a star from one of the most successful film franchises of all time in a leading role. Daniel Radcliffe, the “Harry Potter” star — who, in fairness, works hard in all his endeavors, we’re sure — will play the ambitious window washer J. Pierrepont Finch in a revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” that is planned for Broadway in the spring of 2011, its producers announced on Thursday.

The musical revival, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert, will be Mr. Raddlicliffe’s first Broadway role since the revival of “Equus” that ran at the Broadhurst Theater in 2008 and 2009. Rob Ashford, (“Promises, Promises”; “Curtains”) will direct “How to Succced,” and it will be produced by Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. The original production (with a cast that included Robert Morse and Charles Nelsen Reilly opened in 1961 and ran for more than 1,400 performances; a film version was released in 1967, and a previous Broadway revival, starring Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullally, was mounted in 1995.
