Kristen Stewart has a new project, The Yellow Handkerchief, coming to theaters in February, and producer Arthur Cohn tells People magazine that we’re going to see a whole new side to the Twilight star.

In the film, Stewart plays Martine, a troubled teen in the American south who embarks on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana with a bunch of strangers.

According to Cohn,“The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen’s fans all over the world. In my personal opinion, from a pure acting point of view, The Yellow Handkerchief was a more difficult part to play.”

New Moon EW Photoshoot

The lead cast of New Moon took part in an exclusive photo shoot  and interview for Entertainment Weekly in which they dished on life in the fish bowl, dating, and of course Taylor’s body.

EW: How are you all coping with living in a fishbowl?
Robert Pattinson: It really depends on the mood. When I met you last year [before Twilight came out], I was doing interviews very sporadically and I never got recognized. Now it’s like anywhere I go there’s immediate recognition. So there’s more of a responsibility…
Stewart: I don’t mind working every day. It’s just, suddenly, I have this other role. And that’s really disappointing. All I’d like to do is go outside with a book and figure out what to do with the day. And if I can’t do that, then I’m just going to sit in my hotel room on my balcony and chain smoke. [Pauses] I’m going to stop smoking. I’m not such a good smoker, anyway. It’s not in my bones. I’m gonna drop it.
Pattinson: The three of us have been working for two years [straight]. It does feel like your day has a shape just as soon as you wake up. I just forget what it’s like when you’re free.

EW: Taylor, you’re the only one who almost lost a shot at the sequels. Do you have a different relationship with fame because you had to fight for your job?
Lautner:
No, I kept my eye on the prize 100 percent of the time. I was motivated. I wasn’t even thinking about anything else.
Stewart: Thank God you got the job. I wouldn’t have wanted to deal with you if you didn’t. After all those months of working out!
Lautner: I just wanted to focus on what I could control, and I worked really hard.

EW: You mean in the gym? Because I see your abs everywhere these days.
Lautner:
Yeah, the gym was a major part, but I really studied the books and the character, too. And it all turned out good.

EW: Kristen, it must be nice to watch the guys’ appearances get obsessed over for a change.
Stewart:
Seriously, it’s a trip to sit back and look at the sexual objectification of these dudes. I’ve never been asked to do any of this stuff.

Kristen Stewart INTERVIEW Cover Girl

k-8

Kristen Stewart featured in INTERVIEW magazine. On her life now: The sad thing is that I feel so boring because Twilight is literally how every conversation I have these days begins, whether it’s someone I’m meeting for the first time or someone I just haven’t seen in a while.

The first thing I want to say to them is, ‘It’s insane! And, as a person, I can’t do anything!’ But then I think to myself, God damn it, shut the f*ck up. On Twilight themes: The weirdest f*cking themes run through this story, like dominance and masochism.

I mean, you always have to realize that the story needs to make sense to the 11-year-olds who read the book and aren’t necessarily going to be viewing a scene as foreplay. But then there is the other segment of the audience, a large percentage, who does see the scene as foreplay.

And it’s pretty deep, heady foreplay. [laughs] So it’s fun to play it both ways. I mean, I don’t know what it feels like to make out with my vampire boyfriend because it isn’t something that anybody has ever felt. But it’s funny to think that a lot of the audience is 10 years old and will maybe one day grow up to realize there are a lot of involved thoughts in Twilight that they didn’t see before.

Kristen Stewart is pleased she was able to be a full time actress at a young age- because it gave her the chance to escape the high school she hated.

The 19 year old admits she was happy to put high school behind her, “I was glad to leave school. I couldn’t relate to kids my own age. They are mean, they don’t give you a chance. I think the social aspects, I haven’t missed out on. I am around people constantly. I meet hundreds of people at work. Once you have done with school, you realised it’s just a smaller version of life.”

But the star still remembers the bullies who made her life unbearable when they found out about her acting.

She adds, “When I was there, I was never the type of girl to be walking around talking about acting, so I didn’t get a lot of hassle until someone found out. I was trying to play it down, but I definitely got, ‘Oh she’s such a b**ch.’ They’d never spoken to me, but instantly they were like, ‘You are so rude.’ I am not rude.”

In an era when a vapid teen sex comedy seems to be the plat du jour for adolescent actors, 15-year-old Kristen Stewart is charting her own much more interesting path through the system. The toughness and maturity of her performance four years ago as the diabetic daughter of a recently divorced woman played by Jodie Foster in David Fincher’s claustrophobic thriller Panic Room (2002) was enough to put the world on notice. Her work since, with directors ranging from Mike Figgis (Cold Creek Manor, 2003) to David Gordon Green (Undertow, 2004) and Jon Favreau (Zathura), has done nothing but enhance that impression. This year she will appear in three very different films: Griffin Dunne’s Fierce People, a family drama in which she stars opposite Diane Lane, Donald Sutherland, and Anton Yelchin; Jonathan Kasdan’s In the Land of Women, a romantic comedy with The O.C.’s Adam Brody and Meg Ryan; and The Messengers, from Hong Kong horror maestros Danny and Oxide Pang.

Actress Kristen Stewart is taking it back old school, joins Jesse Eisenberg as a couple of ’80s teens awkwardly trying to find romance in Adventureland.

Q: Are you as awkward as your character when it comes to love?

A: I don’t think I’m ever going to not fumble around. I think that’s just life. That’s how you live life is you fumble around.

Q: Have you found it more difficult to have relationships since your rise to fame?

A: The hardest thing in life is to maintain personal relationships and to feel like they’re real and genuine. You’re always going to have expectations that you’re trying to meet and you just have to roll with it.

Q: Did you find yourself bringing any of your own relationship experiences into the role?

A: No, not at all, the characters that I play are so different. I always make sure that they’re a completely different person from me. I didn’t think that it was necessary to bring my own life into it. I could just imagine what it would be like for her.

Q: You seem so sure of who you are, was it difficult to play someone who was as you say “self-loathing?”

A: I have friends that I can sort of see in her. Like my favorite aspects of her I feel like I know a lot of those kind of girls that are wracked with feelings of inadequacy, but they’re actually the greatest people that I know. And so if they could just realize that, they could have everything that they wanted.

Adventureland hits theatres next Friday.

Kristen & Robert, Do You Think…

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson made their way to the overseas premiere of Twilight in London. They share a great deal of chemistry on and off set, but do you think that would be enough for them to be a real couple?

Kristen Stewart spent Monday shopping around Whole Foods Market finding some tasty organic foods. Casually dressed, the Twilight star went under the radar until recently being seen at an airport, possibly to fly out to London for Twilight promotion, where Robert Pattinson just landed.
