Hilary Duff took some time to talk with Access Hollywood about her upcoming guest arc on Gossip Girl. In the interview, we see some of the filming, as well as Hilary talking about her character.

In Gossip Girl, Hilary Duff will guest star for 6 episodes as Olivia Burke, an actress looking for some down-to-earth experiences at college. She’ll be rooming with Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) and will be romantically linked with Dan (Penn Badgley).

Hilary says Olivia has been in some big blockbuster movies – vampire movies! – and has led a lifestyle where everyone knows who she is. Olivia wants to trade it in for a more discreet lifestyle, though she’s having trouble doing that – her publicist won’t leave her alone, nor will the paparazzi!

Hilary Duff has teamed up with ABC Family for a new made-for-tv original film, The Business of Falling in Love. The movie is a romantic comedy based on the book Diary of a Working Girl by Daniella Brodsky. Hilary Duff will not only star in the film, she will also be one of the producers!

Hilary Duff will star as a fashion reporter who goes undercover in the business world in order to write an article about dating men in suits – hoping the article will be her big break in the magazine world and also looking for her big break in love.

If the movie stays true to the book, Hilary will play Lane Silverman. In the book, Lane is so obsessed with meeting Prince Charming that her work often comes second. Described as a “flighty, romantic” person with a “wild imagination”, she comes up with the idea of combining work and pleasure with this article about finding love. Cosmopolitan magazine loves the idea, she gets a job easily at a financial company…. but the ‘perfect man’ Lane finds… he ends up not working for that company.

The 2-hour original movie will be directed by Gil Junger (10 Things I Hate About You), with the screenplay adaptation by Mike Horowitz. The film will be executive produced by Hilary Duff, alongside Frank Von Zerneck, Robert Sertner, Ira Pincus and Jessica Horowitz. This is not Hilary’s first credit as producer; she was producer for Material Girls and executive producer on Greta as well.

According to The Desert Sun, Hilary Duff recently granted the wish of young Sara Burke, meeting her through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As reported by Hilary News:

I was unable to confirm this from the Make-A-Wish foundation website, but let’s assume it’s true, since they had photos!

Sara Burke, who has aplastic anemia, requested to meet Hilary Duff through the foundation. On June 17th, she got her wish. The report doesn’t say what Sara’s experience was like meeting Hilary, but does mention why she chose Hilary:

“Hilary Duff is a positive role model,” Sara said. “She stays who she is.”

We definitely agree that Hilary is still a great role model for kids!
