David Henrie of the Emmy-winning Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” will pair with Platinum Studios to develop its comic book series, “The Weapon,” into a feature film he’d star in according to Reuters.
“Weapon” follows martial arts enthusiast and inventor Tommy Zhou, who has developed a ground-breaking portable innovation that an evil order will stop at nothing to steal. Released in 2007, “Weapon” was created by Platinum chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
“‘The Weapon’ is so awesome, and my Disney audience will enjoy the empowerment and action-filled journey my character experiences,” Henrie said. “I’m a huge fan and student of MMA (mixed martial arts), and I hope to bring that to the character of Tommy.”
Henrie most recently appeared in the Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.” He has had recurring roles on “How I Met Your Mother,” “That’s So Raven” and “The Pitts.” “Wizards” won an Emmy on Saturday for outstanding children’s program.

Production of the Emmy winning Wizards of Waverly Place is back in full force for another hit season. David Henrie and Selena Gomez tweeted from set of Maria Canals-Barrera who plays their mother on the show, but no need to be too sad as the ratings for Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie came in!
Gaining nearly 2 million Viewers based on a full week of viewing, the premiere of Disney Channel’s 77th original movie, “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” became cable’s No. 2 scripted telecast of all time in Total Viewers (13.5 million), and cable’s No. 2 telecast ever in Kids 6-11 (5.3 million/21.8 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (4.6 million/19.0 rating), behind August 2007’s mega-hit, Disney’s “High School Musical 2.”

Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars Jennifer Stone and David Henrie were overwhelmed when on Sunday more than 1,000 fans lined up as early as 8 a.m. for a meet and greet in Naperville, IL.
“It’s great,” Stone said afterward after finally finishing at 5:30 p.m. “It’s very overwhelming. It’s always nice to meet the fans and people that enjoy your work.”
“To know that that many people appreciate my work is a very reassuring feeling,” Henrie said.
David tweeted pictures from the meet and greet, including some girls that brought him some handcuffs, which he put on! “Someone gave (them) to me and I was, like, ‘You get my sense of humor,’ so I put them on,” Henrie said. He tweeted about them: Hahaha best gift Chicago rocks. Naperville!!
“I think David got all the weird gifts,” Stone said, referring to the handcuffs. “The guys usually do. Girls get the bracelets and the rings.”
Today David is in Memphis, TN doing a meet and greet from 12pm to 2pm at the Delta Fair & Music Festival.

David Henrie has announced on his twitter account that the “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” premiere won’t be happening. Here’s what he had to say:
“okay so look… heres the deal. bad news. my charity premier idea generated traffic, a lot of traffic. which is a security issue. and I’m going to have to cancel it because I can’t hire a small military in the amount of time I have to make sure it’s safe. plus a venue seating a couple hundred would mean thousands would be turned down. and I dont want any1 upset, so im going to have to bow out of this. I wish it could have happened, woulda been dope! but when you have hundreds of thousands of followers then tens out thansands are going to show and I dont want any1 hurt…rrrrggggg i hope every1 still watches the movie and gets excited for it none the less. it’s a blessing to know that so many of u were excited to come”
While sad news, I don’t think David has anything to worry about, as the fans will watch the movie, premiere or not! “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” airs Friday, August 28th @ 8PM ET/PT on the Disney Channel.

Wizards Of Waverly Place: The Movie premiered its trailer this evening on Disney Channel, providing fans with insight on what to expect from this summers sure-to-be hit. The plot surrounds Selena Gomez’s character, Alex, casting a spell wishing her parents had never met, forcing herself along with her brothers played by David Henrie and Jake T. Austin to figure out to how get everything back to normal during a trip in Puerto Rico.
While the basic fact that if their parents never met, that would mean they would not have been born is a basic ‘huah?’ throughout the trailer, the overall film looks up to par with Disney made for t.v. movies, and certainly looks like a cute family film! Thoughts?
