3OH!3’s hit single  featuring Katy Perry, “Starstrukk” premiered online today (10.26).

The music video was based loosely on the movie, “When In Rome”, but all you need to now is it’s three hot musicians with average Joe’s trying to make out with them. I wish I was in this music video.

Katy Perry has kept busy since her first major hit “I Kissed A Girl” hit mainstream airwaves last year. After the success of her album One of the Boys, her fans are itching to get their hands on new music from the raven-hair pop star.

Well, good news for those fans: according to MTV Perry is ready to get back to work. She’s even feeling inspired by some of her newest collaborators for her next project, likening her new vibe to that of fellow VMA-nominated band 3OH!3.”I know that after being on the road for about a year and half, what I’m missing is a little bit of that ‘Starstrukk’ flavor,” she told MTV News on the video set for “Starstrukk,” her new song with 3OH!3.

Her new music will eventually have “that beat, that movement a little bit,” Perry teased.  “I want to make songs that people want to hold hands and roller-skate to.”

When we previously spoke to Perry about her Boys follow-up, she made it clear that she’s going in a new direction. “I definitely want to make a follow-up pop, fun record. I’m not looking to alienate my fans, but I can’t be that grown-up Shirley Temple girl wearing the stupid strawberry in her hair all the time … because I’d kill myself or someone else would for me,” Perry laughed. “So I’m really excited to always be evolving, and changing; with my look, with my music, it keeps me entertained as well.”

3oh!3

3OH!3 was the fastest growing Facebook page this week, jumping from 481,000 to 746,000 fans over a few days last week. It’s assumed the fan base has always been present, however given the show rate of growth they has before and after the spikes, it’s assumed by this source it’s due to all of the unofficial pages for the group being limited by the official one.

3OH!3 made their way from Warped Tour to ABC as their band name was featured on Who Wants To Be A Millionare last week.

The question was, “The musical dup 3OH!3 takes its name from the area code where the group first formed, encompassing what U.S. city?” It seems as though the 303 isn’t a popular topic of discussion for this poor gentlemen. Would you have pocketed the $25,000 by getting this answer right?

Now that the Grammy eligibility date, Aug. 31, has passed, it’s time to predict the nominees to be announced in November. The LA TIMES Grammy prophets David “Guru” Schnelwar and Darrin “DoubleD” Dortch agree on three of the five nominees for best new artist: Cobra Starship, Keri Hilson and the Zac Brown Band.

The best new artist award has been won in the past by such notable stars as Carrie Underwood, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey and the Beatles, but it’s also been considered a curse on careers.

Demi Lovato is considered one of the front runners for Best New Artist against Cobra Starship, Drake,
Keri Hilson (if eligible), and Zac Brown Band. Other possibilities include: 3oh!3, Kid Cudi, Carolina Liar and Eric Hutchinson.

It’s interesting to find 3oh!3 and Demi Lovato bringing in more predictions than Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. Are you happy with the prediction list?
