Disney Channel has an upcoming movie titled, Princess Protection Program but it seems as though the idea follows almost exactly to a movie that former Disney Lizzie McGuire actress Lalaine is starring in that was once titled Princess, but recently changed to Royal Kill.
Royal Kill was filmed in Washington around three years ago, but due to the fact it was an Independent movie, it took longer to edit, produce and land itself with a release date which is set to release June 7th 2009. Below are the two plots for the movie’s and see if the similarities are as obvious to you as they are to us here.
Princess/Royal Kill’s Plot: A high school teenage girl in America finds out that she is the last living heir to the Kingdom of Samarza. An assassin has been sent to kill the young princess while a noble guard has been sent to protect her.
Princess Protection Program’s Plot: When a tiny country is invaded by a dictator, a young Princess (later known as Rosie) is taken into custody by the Princess Protection Program. She is whisked away to rural Wisconsin where she must learn the ins and outs of behaving like a normal American teenager.
Interesting! Expecially since both were titled Princess and Princess Protection Program, and Lalaine looks very similar to Demi Lovato. Wonder what Disney will make of this, if they even try to say anything at all. The only difference we see between the two is one isn’t as sugar coated as the other. What do you think of the stricking similarities between the two movies?

Sounds kinda similar, but was Princess/Royal Kill’s Plot from Disney?
I think Selena shoulda played the princess and Demi the tomboy…. cuz Selena seems for kinda, fragile than Demi.
Comment by Twilight iz foreva January 9, 2009 @ 10:04 amPrincess/Royal Kill is not a disney movie or ever was, it was a concept turned film three years ago made with an independent group that simply featured a former disney actress Lalaine from Lizzie McGuire, but the movies are almost identical in plot other than PPP is a G rated version.

Pingback by Princess Protection Program Sneek Peak « Social Butterflies March 20, 2009 @ 10:26 amI see the similarities, but really, it’s not something that anyone is getting into.
For companies to be sued for such acts, the plots would actually have to be EXACTLY the same. This is kind of a load of ridiculousness.
I see why I don’t read this blog.
Comment by Anonymous March 20, 2009 @ 1:24 pmi think the biggest difference is that the princess part of Princess Protection Program doesn’t really seem like it’s the most important part of the movie. disney always have plots which actually focus on the “inspiring” part for kids rather than what you’d think the purpose of the movie is.
i think in PPP the focus is more about the fact that Rosie (Demi) is supposed to be like…teaching Carter (Selena) how to be more sophistocated, and these two girls are supposed to become like good friends, and Selena’s character is supposed to overcome insecurities.
i honestly doubt there will be much focus on the princess part in PPP except for the fact that Rosie is, of course, a princess. but anyway yeah i don’t think that’s the point…
so when u look at the brief overview, these movies seem strickingly similar, but they probably will be nothing alike
