Twenty-year-old songbird Taylor Swift may have taken home four trophies at last weekend’s 52nd Grammy Awards, but the starlet’s less than impressive Grammy Night duet with rock legend Stevie Nicks has been the subject of many a biting remark on the blogosphere.

The New York Times called Swift “painfully out of tune” and The San Diego Union-Tribunequipped that “her karaoke-level singing made a good argument in favor of using Auto-Tune.”

Now the head of Taylor’s label is coming to Blondie’s rescue.

“This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note,” Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta told The Associated Press in a telephone interview on Wednesday. “She is the voice of this generation. She speaks directly to (her fans), and they speak directly back to her. This is not American Idol,” he added. “This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance.”

Is her CEO admitting he doesn’t feel Taylor isn’t a talented singer?

Lady Gaga “I Was Never Supposed To Do ‘We Are The World’”

In an interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on Thursday, pop sensation Lady Gaga set the record straight about recent rumors that she was supposed to participate in the star-studded re-recording of “We Are The World” for Haitian Relief — only to pull out at the last moment.

The “Bad Romance” crooner explained that while she was asked to lend her famed vocals to the 25th anniversary of the charity effort, she politely declined.

“I’ve actually been in rehearsal for my new tour, but I was never supposed to do ‘We Are The World.’ So that’s a rumor,” Gaga told Billy. “I believe that they may have asked, yes, about it, but I was unable to do it.”

Gaga says she’s already been more than involved in raising money for the earthquake-ravaged nation. She’s donated all the proceeds from one of the shows on her sold-out tour, and has been busy selling t-shirts for the effort via her Web site.

“…I’ve been working on my own charity projects for Haiti. We’ve raised over half a million dollars for Haiti already and we like to work specifically with charities that are based in Haiti itself,” she said.

“I donated all of the proceeds from one show worth of ticket sales as well as all the of the merchandise from that show and for 24 hours we had a ‘Gaga for Haiti’ day where everything that was bought on the Web site… every dollar went to Haiti,” the star added.“We’re continuing to work on more projects and we’re supposed to go to Haiti later this year for a show, which is very exciting.”

Fully taking responsibility, Ke$ha filmed herself and friends going across private property in order to tag the sign. While highly illegal, one can assume she woke up this morning feeling better than P. Diddy though.

Lady Gaga is on the hunt for new love after exploring the world as a singleton for more than a year.

The singer star’s last relationship — with an entrepreneur called Speedy — ended over a year ago, and Gaga is hoping that the new year will bring a potential new companion.

An informant tells The Enquirer: “Lady Gaga is a character she hides behind. When the show is over and she’s just Stefani; she’s not comfortable being herself. There’s no-one really close to her heart right now….Gaga has trust issues. She’s afraid to expose her true self,” the tipster tattles. “Over the last year she has become a machine who just throws herself into her work. At this point, it’s really all she has.”

Fall Out Boy Breaking Up

Fall Out Boy has apparently fallen out.

In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, Pete explained that he and his bandmates desperately needed a break from each other after performing together since 2001. In a series of recent updates to his Twitter.com account on Tuesday, the bassist confirmed that the band are currently on hiatus — and hints that the break may be permanent.

He wrote: “I don’t know the future of Fall Out Boy. It’s embarrassing to say one thing and then have the future dictate another. As far as I know Fall Out Boy is on (a) break…..” Pete later added: “As much as I don’t have a solo project, I also can’t predict that I’d ever play in Fall Out Boy again.”

Lead vocalist Patrick Stump has also seemingly confirmed the end of Fall Out. In recent statements to Spin, Stump, 25, remarked:

“I’m not in Fall Out Boy right now….But one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn’t in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don’t know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don’t, it will also be for the right reasons.”
